August 4, 2017 by Blandin Foundation
1. Cotton: Hosting their first-ever National Night Out, Cotton residents gathered to celebrate and support the community’s public servants.
“We’re all about building community here, strengthening families, establishing relationships and things like that,” said Ginger Kinsley, Executive Director for Old School Lives.
2. Aitkin: Aitkin County leaders are working with APEX, an economic and business development organization, to take stock of community strengths and challenges as the plan for future growth. The group is working toward a strategic plan for community growth.
3. Austin: Austin is one of five communities in southern Minnesota partnering with Forecast Public Art to take stock of current use of art in a community and fill gaps that can help city planners enhance a community’s character. Other participating communities include Mankato, Rochester, Red Wing and Winona.
“The focus of the project is to improve the vibrancy, social cohesion, livability and health of the five communities.”
