Top 3 Vibrant Communities | May 15 – 19

1) Coleraine: When Mount Itasca’s future was in jeopardy, local leaders involved in the Itasca Ski and Outing Club stepped up to the plate, rather the chair lift, to begin the incline to a rejuvenated community resource. Hundreds of volunteer hours and a $10,000 IRRRB grant later, Mount Itasca is well on its way to serving the community for another 100 years.
“‘We are on a roll, but we haven’t pulled ourselves up by the bootstraps yet,’ McLynn cautions, and says that hopes for another good season this coming winter will go a long way to reassuring their success.”
2) Le Center: Move over high school royalty, Le Center has a new king and queen in town. In celebration of National Nursing Home Week, Central Health Care kicked off their week-long festivities with the coronation of Dennis Marquardt and Sue Cedergren.
“I was shocked. It took a little to sink in,” Cedergren said. “I like this whole week in general. Every day there are so many other activities.”
3) Crosslake: Leaders know that to continue progressing toward a goal, it’s prudent to take time along the way to celebrate the small successes. This week, Crosslake Mayor Patty Norgaard paused to recognize the many vibrant happenings in her town. From new rent-a-bike concessions to sewer system upgrades, residents are encouraged to take pride in their community.
We do live in a great community, and it is your community. Volunteer where needed, attend city meetings, be engaged and help make our community the very best it can be!
