1. Red Lake Nation: The people of Red Lake Nation will celebrate the grand opening of the Red Lake Nation College and Red Lake Capitol this week. A symbol of culture, strength and perseverance, the twin buildings stand 48 feet high and were built in the shape of Migiziwag (bald eagles).
2. Willmar: The first city in Minnesota to achieve the designation of a Main Street city, Governor Dayton recognized Willmar’s accomplishments to revitalize their downtown last week.
3. Blackduck: A small town parade snowballs into a bash big enough for the whole community to enjoy. This past weekend, the Backwoods Bash brought hundreds of community members together to celebrate local talents and appreciate the place they call home.
I’m all about Blackduck,” said [Heidi Landis, Backwoods Bash committee chair]. “Anybody that knows me knows I’m always for Blackduck. I’ve lived here my whole life. I want people to have fun here and enjoy Blackduck as much as I do.”
