- Lanesboro: Economic development and education are trying to work hand-in-hand in Lanesboro to recruit new families and businesses. At a February 19 school board meeting, Don Bell from the Lanesboro Economic Development Authority offered an open invitation. “Bell said he would like to keep the lines of communication open between the school and the EDA, and possibly have the chance to work on something together in the future.” We look forward to seeing what vibrant possibilities could be on the horizon for Lanesboro. From the Fillmore County Journal
- Todd County: After being awarded a $536,702 Border-to-Border Broadband grant from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development, Mainstreet Communications LLC will “build broadband infrastructure to serve 217 unserved premises in the Sauk Lake area, which is located primarily in Todd County, with some project area in rural Stearns County…It is estimated that 20 percent of the premises to be served are either a business or running a home-based business.” From the Osakis Review
- Grand Marais: This week Budget Travel told us something we already know to be true – Minnesota’s small towns are cool! After a well-fought battle, Grand Marais won out for America’s Coolest Small Town. This annual competition will shine a spotlight on the vibrant northeastern Minnesota community in an upcoming issue of Budget Travel. From MPR News
