Give to the Max Day brings in $17 million to Minnesota nonprofits
November 15, 2013 by Blandin Foundation
In the past, when someone said leaderboard, golden ticket or power hour – sports rankings, Willy Wonka, and drinking games came to mind. For the past five years now, GiveMN has been changing the name of the game. Yesterday GiveMN held their fifth annual Give to the Max Day. In 24 hours, over $17 million was raised for 4,437 nonprofits and schools. More than 52,000 Minnesotans logged-on to search out and support their favorite cause. The generosity was so overwhelming that their website literally crashed!
In coordination with Give to the Max Day, our home community coordinated the first Itasca Gives to the Max Day. The Grand Rapids Area Community Foundation was host to a number of giving stations, where community members could come throughout the day to donate.
“The first party-style Give to the Max Day was filled with music, people laughing and coming into the Community Foundation offices to donate to any nonprofit in the Grand Rapids area they wanted,” said Robert Drake, Manager of Development. “Our doors were open for 12 hours and no one ever got tired of helping people find a way to give.”
Goodbye Give to the Max Day. See you next year!
